BMS Classes
MSHA 30 CFR Courses: Part 46 & Part 48
The Bureau of Mine Safety has considered charging a fee for training for quite some time. Our costs continue to rise while our grant and state appropriation have remained the same or been cut. In addition, our statutory responsibilities have been increased. Therefore we will begin charging mining companies a per person fee of $20 per class, in order to maintain our level of service. We plan to institute the charge beginning July 1, 2009.
Our certified trainers provide mine safety and health training at sites near mining operations
throughout New Mexico. All instruction is provided in accordance with MSHA standards as
set forth in Title 30, Code of Federal Regulations (30CFR).
Training is scheduled upon request for a minimum of 6 students and a maximum of 30 students per session. If you are interested in scheduling a class, please call the BMS office at (575) 835-5460.

MSHA Instructor Candidate Courses
BMS also provides "train-the-trainer" classes for people who are applying for
Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Certification as an Instructor. It is our intent to
provide the tools necessary to successfully train miners as well as develop training
plans required by the Mine Safety and Health Administration.
Successful completion of this course, along with detailed background information and instructional experience will determine whether the Mine Safety and Health
Administration grants the request for Instructor certification. Information provided on
the class application is sent directly to the MSHA agent who makes the final
determination.
See the current class schedule for the dates and location of the next instructor course.
Cost: $300 for all three days.
