The Bureau of Mine Safety charges a nominal fee for training to mining companies. A per person fee of $20 per class is billed to the mining company in order to maintain our level of service and to help defray travel cost.
Our MSHA approved trainers provide mine safety and health training at sites throughout New Mexico. All instruction is provided in accordance with Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) standards as set forth in Title 30, Code of Federal Regulations (30CFR). (Jacoby please put a hyperlink for 30CFR to 30CFR)

MSHA Instructor Candidate Courses
BMS also provides "train-the-trainer" classes for people who are applying for MSHA approval as an Instructor. It is our intent to provide the tools necessary to successfully train miners as well as develop training plans required by MSHA.
MSHA makes the final determination regarding successful approval as an instructor.
MSHA reviews a candidate’s mining experience and experience in teaching. While completion of the MSHA Instructor Candidate Course is not a requirement for instructor approval, it is another factor that is reviewed by MSHA when considering approval. Information provided on the class application is sent directly to the MSHA District Office Manager who makes the final determination.
See the current class schedule for the dates and location of the next instructor course.
Cost: $300 for all three days and includes materials.
